No Bake Puppy Chow Bars

These No Bake Puppy Chow Bars are the perfect quick dessert! They are made using a classic puppy chow (aka Muddy Buddies) recipe that is made with Chex cereal, chocolate and peanut butter that is formed into bars.

Ingredients
  

For the no bake puppy chow bars
  • 7 cups Chex corn cereal
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • cup creamy peanut butter 5 ounces
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup powdered sugar

Equipment

  • large mixing bowl (microwave safe)
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • silicone spatula
  • 9x13 pan
  • parchment paper or aluminum foil

Method
 

To make the puppy chow
  1. Add the chocolate chips, peanut butter, butter and vanilla extract to a large microwave-safe bowl.
  2. Heat them in the microwave for 60-90 seconds, or until everything has begun to melt. Remove the bowl from the microwave and stir until smooth.
  3. Pour the Chex over the melted chocolate mixture and use a silicone spatula to gently stir until all of the Chex is completely coated in chocolate.
To assemble the no bake puppy chow bars
  1. Line a 9x13 baking dish with parchment paper or aluminum foil.
  2. Spread the puppy chow evenly throughout the pan.
  3. Allow the bars to set in the fridge for 60-90 minutes or until the chocolate has completely set.
  4. Remove the bars from the fridge and cut them into desired bar sizes.
  5. Pour the powdered sugar into a small bowl and toss each bar in the sugar until it's completely coated. Store the puppy chow bars in the fridge.
