Quick Tips

  • Line the 9×13 baking pan with parchment paper or aluminum foil for easy removal
  • Chill the bars in the fridge until the chocolate is completely hardened, then cut them into squares before tossing them in powdered sugar
  • Drizzle the bars with melted peanut butter or chocolate for added decoration

Equipment

  • Large (microwave safe) mixing bowl
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Ingredient Notes

  • Rice or corn Chex: store brand rice or corn squares will work too. I prefer to use corn cereal

How to make No Bake Puppy Chow Bars

These no bake puppy chow bars are so easy to make! Assemble them in two simple steps.

  1. Make the puppy chow
  2. Assemble the bars

How to make the puppy chow

Add the chocolate chips, peanut butter, butter and vanilla extract to a large microwave-safe bowl.

Heat them in the microwave for 60-90 seconds, or until everything has begun to melt. Remove the bowl from the microwave and stir until smooth.

Next, pour the Chex over the melted chocolate mixture and use a silicone spatula to gently stir until all of the cereal is completely coated in chocolate.

How to assemble the bars

Line a 9×13 baking dish with parchment paper or aluminum foil, then spread the puppy chow evenly throughout the pan.

Allow the bars to set in the fridge for 60-90 minutes or until the chocolate has completely set.

Remove the bars from the fridge and cut them into desired bar sizes. I usually cut them into 32 pieces.

Pour the powdered sugar into a small bowl and toss each bar in the sugar until it’s completely coated. Store the puppy chow bars in the fridge and enjoy!
