    Brownie Batter Dip

    Jump to Recipe

This easy brownie batter dip is made with boxed brownie mix, cool whip and cream cheese. That’s right – it contains just THREE ingredients! Let’s dive into how to whip this together in just a few minutes.

    Quick Tips

    • The boxed brownie mix should *technically* be heat treated so that it’s safe to eat raw. See my instructions on how to do that below in just a few minutes using the oven or microwave
    • Once the brownie mix has been heated, I recommend sifting it to remove any clumps that formed
    • After heat treating the brownie mix, make sure that it cools off before mixing it with the cool whip and cream cheese
    • Add chocolate chips or other chopped candies to the brownie batter dip if desired!

    Equipment

    • Hand or stand mixer
    • Microwave-safe bowl or cookie sheet (for heat treating the brownie mix)
    • Silicone spatula
    • Medium-large mixing bowl

    Ingredient Notes

    • Boxed brownie mix: any brand will work
    • Cool whip
    • Cream cheese
    • Additional add-ins (optional): chocolate chips, chopped chocolate candies, m&m’s
    • Treats for dipping in the brownie batter dip: fresh fruit, graham crackers, cookies (Oreo’s, Nilla Wafers, Chips Ahoy, etc.)

How to make Brownie Batter Dip

This brownie batter dip is so easy to make and can be whipped together in just a few minutes with two simple steps!

    1. Heat treat the brownie mix
    2. Mix all the ingredients together

How to heat treat the brownie mix

NOTE: brownie mix contains raw flour, which is unsafe to consume raw. So, to eat this brownie batter dip safely, you should heat the brownie mix to at least 165 degrees to kill any potentially harmful bacteria.

To heat treat the brownie mix in the microwave, pour the mix into a microwave-safe bowl and microwave for three 45 second increments (2 minutes 15 seconds total), mixing well between each increment. Use a silicone spatula to scrape down the edges while mixing.

To heat treat the brownie mix in the oven, preheat your oven to 350 degrees and line a cookie sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. Pour the brownie mixture evenly throughout the cookie sheet. Bake for 8 minutes, stirring once after 4 minutes.

Once you have heated the brownie mix, I recommend sifting it to remove any clumps that formed while heating. Mixing well with a whisk or fork will help break up the clumps too.

Allow the mix to cool completely before making the brownie batter dip.

How to mix all the ingredients together

Place the softened cream cheese in a medium-large mixing bowl and use a hand mixer or stand mixer to cream it until smooth. Scrape down the bowl once complete.

Next, add the cool whip and beat the mixture until well combined.

Finally, add the cooled brownie mix. Beat well for 1-2 minutes, or until smooth. Top with chocolate chips or additional candies if desired and serve! This dip should be stored in the fridge.

Add-ins for the Brownie Batter Dip

If you would like to keep your brownie batter dip smooth and simple, there’s no need to add anything else to the dip itself (also take care on what type of brownie mix you buy, as some will contain chocolate chips). But, if you would like to add more yummy treats to the dip, try these options below!

    • M&M’s
    • Chopped Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups
    • Crushed Oreo’s
    • Chocolate chips or chopped baking chocolate bars
    • Sprinkles
    • Marshmallows
    • Chopped mint chocolates or Andes Mints
    • Fudge or peanut butter swirl (heat the fudge or peanut butter then drizzle over the brownie batter dip and swirl with a knife)

What to pair with the Brownie Batter Dip

It’s in the name of the recipe – this is a DIP. So, what should we use to eat the brownie batter dip? Here are a few ideas.
